During our visit to the SEDOLL factory in Zhongshan, we inspected the TPE and STPE production line rather than only viewing finished showroom dolls.
The manufacturing process included:
- assembling and positioning the internal skeleton;
- preparing the body mould;
- positioning internal mould components where required;
- moulding the TPE around the skeleton;
- removing the formed body from the mould;
- trimming and polishing;
- powdering the surface;
- applying body finishing and colour details.
We also examined moulds, internal components and different skeleton systems during the visit.
This matters because the finished material is only one part of the result. The skeleton, mould design, TPE formulation, soft-fill construction and finishing work all influence how a finished doll looks, moves and feels.

What Does a TPE Sex Doll Feel Like?
The defining characteristic of TPE is softness.
Compared with conventional silicone, TPE generally compresses more easily and has more give when pressed. Its flexibility also allows manufacturers to create particularly soft body areas.
TPE and STPE also tend to feel naturally warmer to the touch than conventional silicone.

TPE vs STPE: What's the Difference?
You may also encounter STPE, S-TPE, Super Soft TPE and similar terminology.
These names are used by manufacturers for softer or modified TPE formulations, but they should not be treated as one universal industry formula.

Don't assume that STPE from two factories will feel or perform identically simply because the names are similar.
Does TPE Look Different From Silicone?
It can.
Silicone generally lends itself well to fine sculpted and surface detail, while TPE is particularly valued for softness and flexibility. Modern TPE finishing, however, can also produce highly detailed results.
One useful way to compare them is to look at the same head sculpt produced in both materials.
This is a more useful comparison than placing two completely different dolls side by side because the underlying head design remains consistent.
It also demonstrates why appearance cannot be attributed to material alone. Material, makeup, pigmentation, lighting and finishing all influence the final presentation.

Head material deserves separate consideration because the differences are not limited to softness or appearance.
